Mardi Gras Lights on Cabin

Cabin Lighting Upgrade

Have you noticed the new street signs in the neighborhood?  New street signs were the most requested item to the new board by homeowners.  Another great improvement to our neighborhood by our Landscape Committee.  Thanks to all who made this happen.

Our landscape committee, spearheaded by committee chairperson, Celeste Daigle, has completed their project for installing up lights on the crepe myrtles at the entrance to The Highlands.  We think the effect is pretty spectacular.  A special thanks to the many people who were involved in the project.

Anne DiLeo and Celeste Daigle paint the Highlands insignia on the columns around the subdivision.

The Oak Park swing set was in need of sprucing up, after many years of neglect.  The pine bark mulch had completely disappeared, and the landscape timbers had deteriorated.  We also discovered during the process that the swing set did not meet some key safety guidelines.  The swing set was separated from the fort, to meet the safety guidelines, and rubber mulch was used instead of pine bark mulch.  Also as part of the renovation, it was decided to relocate the swing set further back and more out of sight from the Highlands' entrance, so that it would not detract from the cabin.  By moving the swing set back, we are also providing a bigger field of play on the front side of Oak Park.  This swing set renovation was spearheaded by our Landscape Committee Chairperson, Celeste Daigle, with the help of her committee members Patrick Potier, Marla Toups, Blaine Thomas, Gretchen Thomas, and Anne DiLeo.  Thanks to all involved.

The Bella Vista entrance was also in need of repair, after many years of neglect.  The iron works were sandblasted and painted, and the columns were also repainted.  Highlands residents Blaine and Gretchen Thomas spearheaded the effort, with help from Mitch Pratt, Mike Landry, Eric Phillips, Mike Daigle, and Valentino Rovere.  Please take time to go check it out.  Our thanks to all who helped with the effort.

The cabin was also in dire need of repair.  The siding on the south side of the cabin was buckling and falling off.  The entire south side siding was replaced.  The inside flooring and ceiling was also repaired.

New rocking chairs were purchased to add more seating at the cabin.  The existing rocking chairs and swing were also repaired.

The old and deteriorated picnic tables were replaced with plastic coated steel picnic tables.
